  THE DON ARIOLI BURSARY AWARD

The family and friends of Don Arioli are hoping to create an annual bursary in his name for a student in animation at Concordia University. We feel that this would be particularly appropriate since Don himself struggled to pay for his studies and, for a year,  taught animation at Concordia. He was always so helpful and encouraging to aspiring animators and writers, and we would like this generosity of spirit to continue in his name.

If you would like to contribute to The Don Arioli Bursary Award, please write a cheque to Concordia University and write the words “The Don Arioli Award” on your cheque to be sent to the University. .

If you prefer to contribute with a credit card, please contact Dorothy Massimo, at Concordia: (514) 848-4599 Ext. 4261.

All donations to the Bursary Award are eligible for income tax credits.  Please return to:

The obituary for Don from the Montreal Gazette:

On the morning of October 4, 2005, Don Arioli passed away, holding the hand of his loving wife, Rose Marie Shapley. Don shared his love of drawing, writing, music and comedy with his children, Amy, Susie, Anna, Regan and France, and grandchildren Ronan and Tobias, who loved him. He will be sorely missed by many, including his brother, Paul, and his sister, Rosie, their families, as well as his extended family in the U.S. He was well loved by those he met in his work and travels. A memorial will be held for family and friends later this month.

There was also a news story, published in the Gazette We will of course continue to update the site with messages for Don's family. If you have a message about Don and his films, please email us and we'll post it here..
